Chancellor's Civic Leadership Medallion

You are eligible, all full- and part-time students, to earn the Chancellor’s Civic Leadership Medallion. To earn the medallion, a student must earn 100 points for qualifying civic leadership activities. Below you will find some examples of applicable activities with potential point awards indicated for each. Other activities not listed here may also be eligible for points upon the determination of the Center for Civic Participation (CCP). Students must provide documentation or some proof or evidence of completion of activities to earn points towards the medallion.

 

Program Objective

To highlight and promote student accomplishments related to effective civic participation and leadership as a central goal and function of higher education.

 

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the award, you must document and accumulate points for eligible civic leadership activities. Additional activities may be considered for point awards on a case by case basis, see Other Applicable Activities.

Please be aware:  You will be deemed ineligible for the award if you are found to have engaged in unethical or illegal activities in the course of their academic or community activities, or if they are convicted of a felony offense during the duration of your point accrual period. Activities will not be considered for points, and you may be considered ineligible for the award, if you are found to have engaged in egregious discriminatory behavior or harassment of others based on an individual or group’s age, race, national origin, religious or political beliefs, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, physical disability or other protected class defined by the MCCCD non-discrimination policy.

 

Application Process & Deadline

Fill out the Medallion Application as completely as possible, print it out and sign it. Submit documentation for each of the activities you listed in the order they appear on your application. Mail or deliver the application and documentation to the following address, or have it sent to us via inter-campus mail from your campus' Student Life Office or Center for Civic and Global Engagement.

Have a faculty or student life representatives submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf to the Center for Civic Participation at civic.participation@domail.maricopa.edu.

 

Application Checklist:
  • Completed, signed application form
  • Documentation provided for each activity (OR contact info listed for appropriate verification official)
  • Letter of recommendation submitted by faculty or student life representative

 

Deadlines:

Applications for the Chancellor’s Civic Leadership Medallion may be accepted at any time, but must be received prior to the deadline for the semester during which the student wishes to receive the award:

  • Fall 2017 Semester - All materials must be received by Friday, November, 17, 2017.
  • Spring 2018 Semester – All materials must be received by Friday, April 14, 2018.
  • Fall 2018 Semester - All materials must be received by Friday, November 18, 2018.
